What is Hypnotherapy?
Before explaining what hypnotherapy is, lets see what the medical profession says about it.
Back in 1958, The American Medical Association approved the use of hypnosis calling it. "A viable and beneficial health alternative."
Hypnosis is a very familiar state that most of us often experience. For example, say you are driving on the freeway and you drive right by your exit. Or say you are watching TV, and you are called to dinner. Even though you are hungry, you don't move away from the TV. In these cases the conscious mind has been distracted and the inner conscious part of the mind takes over.
When a person is hypnotized, he or she is relaxed, but not asleep. One is aware of all that is taking place. Even after the hypnosis session has ended, he or she will be able to remember everything.
The hypnotherapist does not possess any power or control over the client, but simply gives suggestions that the inner conscious mind will accept. With hypnosis problems can be solved, fears eliminated, personal skills enhanced and behavior modified.
Frequently asked questions about hypnotherapy include:
CAN ANYONE BE HYPNOTIZED?
Yes, anyone who can follow simple directions and has an IQ of at least 70.
WHAT IF YOU CAN'T BRING ME OUT OF HYPNOSIS?
It is not possible to remain hypnotized. The worst thing that could happen is that you would enjoy a good sleep until you are rested, then wake up.
It has been noted after most hypnotic sessions that people report sleeping better at night and being more relaxed during the day.
WILL I DO SOMETHING AGAINST MY WILL?
You are always in control and will not do anything you do not want to do.
CAN I BE DECEIVED WHILE BEING HYPNOTIZED?
No. One cannot be deceived or tricked any easier than when in a conscious state.
